September 3, 2015 – Law firm relationships with other AAUP Chapters
A quick call to our affiliate AAUP chapters at Rutgers and the Biomedical and Health Sciences of New Jersey (BHSNJ) has revealed that Attorney Peirano was hired by the administrations as the lead negotiator at those two Universities with disastrous results.
BHSNJ is still negotiating after more than 6 years, and Peirano is no longer on the administrative team. The executive director was forced to file an Unfair Labor Practice Charge requesting Interim Relief against the administration when she was presented with an arbitrary deadline to accept a proposal at the table by Peirano, which was accompanied by a letter from the Chancellor also citing the arbitrary deadline for acceptance of a proposal. Her statement to me was “progress is finally being made toward a settlement.”
Rutgers finally reached a settlement in March of 2015 after both sides agreed to pare down their negotiating teams and Peirano was eliminated from the bargaining table by the Administration.
